Speaking in tongues is not a matter that is central to salvation or the core truths of the gospel. The gospel message centers on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and salvation comes through repentance and faith in Him alone (Romans 10:9, Ephesians 2:8-9).

While speaking in tongues is mentioned in Scripture as one of the spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:10), Paul makes it clear that not all believers will have the same gifts (1 Corinthians 12:29-30). Moreover, he emphasizes love and edification of the church as greater priorities than the exercise of any one gift (1 Corinthians 13:1-2, 14:12).

Therefore, while speaking in tongues may be meaningful in certain contexts, it is not essential for salvation and should not be made a test of faith or spiritual maturity.
